Ikeda Family Gardens

詳細

【Description】

The Ikeda Family is one of three former top landowners in the Tohoku region and the expansive estate and gardens demonstrate the prominence of rice farming in Northern Japan. Flowers in early summer giving way to fresh greens, and autumnal colours of the tinted maple leaves are both spectacular sights. Centred around the former main residence, the land is divided into the main garden in the south-west, the north-western lawns and the family garden in the east. Remaining in the 42,000m2 estate are Japanese gardens, five storage houses, the Western Manor and impressive four metre wide stone lantern.
