Hotta no Saku

詳細

【Description】

In the early Heian period, Yamato dynasty forged north into the Semboku Plains to expand their control of the region, establishing a political and military base here. Parts of the former wooden fortifications can be seen at the ruins today, but unlike castles of the Sengoku period, towers and defensive armaments were uncommon of the time. Due to having no mention in historical documents, much of its history remains mysterious. From the ruins is an exquisite view of Mt. Chokai, colloquially known as Akita Fuji.
